Coronavirus

The wellbeing and safety of all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts is paramount. Taking advice from the Scout Association and also complying with Government stay-alert advice, the majority of face-to-face Scouting activities are suspended until further notice.

The includes our spring and summer camps.

We appreciate how disappointing this is for all those involved in Scouting both locally and further afield, however the safety of all our members, their families, our leaders and those in the wider community remains our top priority and we must act in the best interests of everyone concerned.

On 23 September 2020 we were able to  resume running face-to-face meetings for our Beavers and Scouts. This was combined with some virtual meetings for all (including those unable to attend our face-to-face meetings).

Alas, now we are back to lockdown and will be unable to continue meeting at the Scout Centre but we hope we may be able to keep some virtual meetings running.

We appreciate your patience and continuing support during this difficult period for us all.

Subs

When all Scouting activities were suspended, we stopped collecting subs even though we know some scout groups did continue collecting subs to keep places open. We decided against doing that.

The Scout Group will be incurring costs during the suspension and we have been informed by the Scout Association that capitation fees will still be required to be paid to cover ongoing HQ costs.

We would therefore certainly appreciate the help of any parent or guardian who is able and happy to continue paying subs whilst we are closed.

Scout Centre

We are always to keen to improve the experience of attending Scouting for all our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Our current project is to upgrade our toilet facilities and provide a new accessible toilet to help continue to be open to all in the Staplehurst community.

Our aim to fund this through our fund raising activities, grants and donations.

We have received enthusiastic support from many business and organisations in the village as well as from local trusts. This has helped us to get hit and our target.

We did take the opportunity of the Scout centre being closed during lockdown 1 to begin the works and we just finished the vital works in time to restart activities in the Scout Centre in September.

We thank all those that have helped us during this time and we produce our 'Toilet Roll of Honour' page very shortly to recognise all those people who came along and helped us.
