In 2023 the 1st Staplehurst Scout Group celebrated its 80th year of providing scouting experiences to young people in the village. We are open to boys and girls aged from 4 to 14.
The Scout Group is managed entirely by volunteers. The Group is governed by a Trustee Board (taking over from the old Executive Committee) and is made up of local volunteers. A Group Leadership Team, made of our section leaders run the sections (squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and organise the programs.
The Group Leadership Team plans, delivers, and runs quality programmes safely. They make sure all young people can take part in the programme and gain skills for life. They also help young people work towards their Top Awards.
With a brilliant programme, each young person can make a positive impact in society as they step up, speak up, and find their place in the world.

Scouts is where young people make new friends, have amazing adventures, and learn new skills.
Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing and much, much more
But, we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.
Every week we give our scouts of all ages the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.
Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your young person’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them. And we’ll help them find it.
